Africagua returns to Fuerteventura in November

The island is the stage of one of the Canary Islands Networking events with greater repercussion for the public and private sectors.

For the sixth time, Fuerteventura will host the biennial International Forum of Water and Renewable Energies Africagua. On November 13th and 14th political and economic representatives from Europe, America and Africa will meet at the Training and Congress Center of Fuerteventura.

An extensive program of conferences will be developed with the participation of different countries, multilateral organizations and companies from the sector. In them, previous experiences related to Water and Renewable Energies will be exposed showing the needs of the participating countries, as well as the applied advances or future plans wanted to be implemented in the African continent.

The participants will also be able to attend B2B meetings previously scheduled, through which they will be able to establish contact with companies and organizations that will allow them to undertake new projects for the future.

All this, makes Africagua one of the events Networking of the Canary Islands with greater impact within the sector of renewable energy and water for both public and private sectors. This scenario allows essential opportunities to establish contacts with new business partners and develop business relationships in the future.

Africagua, platform for internationalization

Due to its geographical location, Canary is positioned as the ideal logistics platform between three continents. And in this sense, Africagua is the key on making the archipelago the gateway to Africa, for countries of both Europe and America. Therefore, the participating companies are given the opportunity to identify and develop business opportunities in the African continent, with projects linked to the sector in question.

These reasons and more have stimulated interest in attending the sixth edition of this forum by representatives of Senegal, Cape Verde, Equatorial Guinea, Mauritania, Ghana, Nigeria, Kenya, United States, Gambia and Morocco.
The prices fall of renewable energies opens a key opportunity for the development of Africa. This was stated by the Secretary General of the World Energy Council (WEC), Christoph Frei to EFE at the recent Africa Energy Indaba conference, held in Johannesburg.

The current moment is crucial for the African continent to join the cheapening of renewable energies, through the enormous solar opportunities in its central strip. In other places, such as the Democratic Republic of the Congo or Ethiopia, its large hydroelectric dams such as Inga and Renacimiento stand out, respectively.
The United Nations data indicates that currently there are one billion people in the world without access to electricity, mostly in sub-Saharan Africa and in rural areas. The use of renewable energies would be an enormous opportunity for these regions of the continent.

The Africagua International Forum of Water and Renewable Energies is a biennial event organized by the Chamber of Commerce of Fuerteventura, Cabildo of Fuerteventura, Casa Africa, Technological Institute of the Canary Islands (ITC), Proexca and the Government of the Canary Islands.
