November 6th and 7th Fuerteventura will become an international meeting point for water and renewable energy sector. The 5th edition of Africagua will bring together in the Convention Centre of Puerto del Rosario representatives from ten African, European and American countries, which will take part in a complete program of conferences and workshops. “We are in a privileged geographical situation to show our strengths in renewable energies and water production”, said today 7th September Marcial Morales, President of the Insular Government of Fuerteventura (Cabildo de Fuerteventura), during the press release for the presentation of Africagua 2017. At the press release were also present Pedro Monzon, director of The Canarian Society of Economic Development, S.A. (PROEXCA), the president of International Trade of the Chamber of Commerce of Fuerteventura, Juan Jesús Rodriguez Marichal, insular adviser for Economical Promotion, Rafael Paez of Cabildo, and the director of Africagua, Sonia Pérez, among others.
Africagua has the collaboration of the Government of Canary Islands and its Regional Ministry of Economy, Industry, Commerce and Knowledge, Casa África, and Cabildo and Chamber of Commerce of Fuerteventura through the project Afrimac and INTERREG.
Mr. Monzón said that the Regional Government is working to “get Canarian companies closer to this business opportunity and to reinforce Canary Islands as business hub”. In his opinion, “Africagua is becoming a business forum of great importance”.
Rafael Paez said that it will be a biennial event and that is framed in the “Project for business exchange in sectors with relevant economic and environmental impact between Canary Islands and West Africa (Afrimac)”, which is included in the “I Convocatoria del Programa de Cooperación Territorial INTERREG V-A Madeira, Azores, Canarias (MAC) 2014-2020” as main beneficiary of the financial contribution of the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
Senegal will have a special role as Guest Country of the 5th edition. Africagua will count with a full program of conferences and a b2b matchmaking event which will attract participants from Senegal, Morocco, Togo, Portugal, UK, USA, etc.
