Africagua reunirá en Fuerteventura a diez países africanos, europeos y americanos para abordar asuntos sobre energías renovables y agua

The Government of Canary Islands and its Department of Economy, Industry, Trade and Knowledge, Fuerteventura Island Government (Cabildo), Casa Africa and the Chamber of Commerce in Fuerteventura presented AFRICAGUA 2017 in Dakar (Senegal) last Thursday.

The 5th edition of this business forum will count with Senegal as special protagonist in the event. Representants of this African country showed their satisfaction and commitment with AFRICAGUA 2017.

In the presentation took part the general director for African Affairs at Government of the Canary Islands, Pablo Martín Carbajal, the Ambassador of Spain to Senegal, Alberto Virella Gomes, the director of Casa Africa, Luis Padrón, the director of Transparency and New Technologies of the Insular Government of Fuerteventura (Cabildo), the president of the Foreign Trade Commission of the Chamber of Commerce of Fuerteventura, and the mediator of the Republic of Senegal, Alioune Badara Cisse.

“Access to water is a priority issue for Senegal. Canary Islands, with its strategic situation, can provide Senegal with its wide knowledge in water and renewable energies. AFRICAGUA 2017 will be the meeting point to share experiences, models and solutions to the water access problems and the energy in Senegal”, said Badara Cisse.

Many institutions from the Canary Islands were present. They are currently developing projects with Senegal, in the frame of the cooperation program “Interreg Madeira-Azores-Canarias (MAC) 2014-2020”. Also different companies on the water and renewable energy sector from Spain and Senegal attended this presentation.

AFRICAGUA 2017 will take place next 6th and 7th November in Fuerteventura and will count with participants from Egypt, USA, UK, Spain, Morocco, Mauritania, Cape Verde, Italy, Nigeria and Senegal. The World Bank and the Africa-UR Renewable Energy Cooperation Programme will be present in its conference program.
